When you register a domain name your personal details are saved in a publicly available database called WHOIS. These details can be used by anybody to contact you. Adding privacy to your domain registration will obscure your contact details in the WHOIS database but will still provide you ownership of your domain registration.

You can update your nameservers to use another host for your hosting if you wish. There are no additional fees to have this update done.

BlackSun does not assume ownership of any domain names they register. Once your domain name registration paid, the domain name ownership is granted to the client. BlackSun will still provide management service for your domain name.

You transfer your domain from any other registrar to BlackSun at anytime. We require the following to be done prior to the transfer request:

1. Ensure your domain name is unlocked.
2. Verify the admin email address is a valid address.
3. Obtain an authorization (EPP) code from your registrar.

The transfer process can take up to 7 days to complete and once complete your domain name will be renewed for 1 additional year. The renewal term is added to your existing term so you do not lose any registration time.

We offer a 40 day grace period starting on your renewal date. If you miss your renewal date you wil still have up to 40 days to renew your domain without penalty. No other parties will have access to renew your domain name during this grace period.

You can access your domain registration to update your domain ownership using your client portal. The process for ownership change is easy. If you are unsure of the process, our staff are happy to assist you.

A DNS management tool is available for your domain name to allow you to manage your own DNS using cPanel. This panel will allow you to update any DNS records you wish at any time in a secure fashion.

There are many different options for using your domain name for email. Any addresses you wish to use wil become @yourdomain. Choose between IMAP mailboxes or Microsoft Exchange mailboxes.

The redemption period begins after the 40 day grace period after a domain name expires. Once a domain goes into the redemption period it can be obtained by other parties. You can still redeem your domain for up to 30-days by contacting our support staff for assistance. The fee for reactivating a domain in the Redemption Period is $150.00 + the normal renewal fee. If the domain name is not redeemed during this period your domain will go into a 5-day delete cycle at the end of which it will become available for anyone to register as new.

‘Premium Domains’ are domains with highly sought after names, that have a price to reflect that demand. Such domains may be subject to higher registration and renewal fees.
